tuesday morning : workout, blueberry madness & legal sea foods last night.

i accidentally dumped WAY too many blueberries into my pancake mix this morning! 
the pancakes look a bit crazy but i am sure they will taste great.

lunch packed up for later - edamame, low carb pasta & meatballs.

last night, we went to legal sea foods at copley for dinner.

the best rolls!  so crusty and tasty.  our waitress was super nice and very attentive.  great service!

i was a bit disappointed with my dinner - i wanted the vegetarian box with scallops but they didn't have all the ingredients.  so i got the jasmine special with brown rice & scallops, but they put so much cheese on the dish it was insane - why would anyone order steamed seafood, brown rice & broccoli just to have it covered with excessive amounts of cheese?  (this is coming from a cheese lover!)

it's TUESDAY.  this morning i did a 20 minute insanity pure cardio hybrid where i alternated kettle swings with pure cardio moves.

1). Kettlebells are highly efficient and allow you to do fitness and weight training in one workout at the same time.

2). Swings develop the important posterior chain muscles of the body such as the hamstrings, glutes, core and back. These muscles are often overlooked with traditional weight training but they are crucial for a large number of sports as these muscles are heavily involved in sprinting, jumping and tackling movements.

3). A kettlebell swing is a perfect choice of exercise for tabata training. This very short but intense style of training is ideal for kettlebell swings as they hit a lot of muscle at one time and get the heart rate soaring. Although Tabata training only involves work periods of 20 seconds with 10seconds of rest it is very brutal but very effective.

4). Swings work the abs and strengthen the core muscles as they provide a stable platform for other muscles to pull from. Traditional crunches are useless and do nothing for you, hit your abs with functional abdominal training that actually has benefit in the real world.

5). A key benefit of kettlebell swings is that they train all parts of the back from the lower back all the way to traps. They train all the muscles together giving you a great functional workout.

6). High rep swings also develop back endurance which Professor Stuart McGill a leading spine/back expert considers has a very positive effect on the reduction of back injuries.

7). Swings are a fantastic conditioner and body fat burner. More and more studies are concluding that greater body fat burning occurs when training is performed at higher intensity levels rather than long slow endurance type training.

brunch : protein ice cream topped with chocolate & chia seeds.

brunch today - very tasty protein ice cream

topped with simply lite chocolate & bob's red mill chia seeds

fruity protein ice cream recipe
2 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/4 teaspoon bob's guar gum
1/4 teaspoon bob's xantham gum
1/2 teaspoon sugar free/fat free jello - cheesecake flavor
frozen fruit (i used blueberries, raspberries, strawberries & mango)
splash of milk (i used almond milk, but water would work too)
1 teaspoon torani sugar free mango syrup

blend all ingredients together in vita-mix - it will be super thick!

pour ice cream into a bowl and top with crunchy items - chia seeds, unsweetened chocolate, nuts, cacao nibs, etc....

this morning i had to get a good workout in - i ate WAY too much in lowell this weekend.....
so i did insanity cardio powder - the power jumps kick my butt everytime!!!!

my 20 minute morning workout plan for this week is a kettleswing hybrid of insanity pure cardio.
i am going to alternate 1 minute of kettlebell swings with 1 minute of pure cardio moves.

i really want to try the three 3 teas in the article above, they sound delicious!

i spent the weekend in lowell catching up with my family, as a result i ate a bit more junk than i should have, but that's what the weekend is for....now i am back on track.  this morning i had a good workout and i put together my workout plan for tomorrow.

my love for popcorn indiana grows & grows & grows.............

this morning i did 15 minutes of squats/lunges/pushups as i was super sore, tonight i will do insanity pure cardio (and mix in kettleswings) then i am heading to lowell for the weekend.

last night i did insanity cardio power/hybrid.  i haven't done this workout in a while - it was great!

this morning i did a quick 20 minute insanity pure cardio hybrid.  i mixed in a lot of lunge variations.

after my workout this morning, i made bob's red mill double chocolate blueberry chia POWER PANCAKES.

i topped my pancake with artisana cacao bliss - amazing....

weirdo wednesday morning!

this morning i did my 20 minute hybrid version of insanity pure cardio.
  1. warm up - ONCE (not 3 times)
  2. workout - 15 minutes
  3. stretch

i just made a blueberry chia coconut POWER PANCAKE using mostly bob's red mill ingredients!

i added bob's chia seeds, blueberries & unsweetened baker's chocolate to the batter today.

this week is FLYING BY!  it has been really busy and productive.  as you can tell from my posts over the past few days i am BACK ON TRACK with workouts and healthier eating (thank goodness).  after so much traveling over the past few months i HAD to make the decision to FOCUS!

my workouts have been solid (i am so sore right now), my eating has been better (with a few exceptions but i am not a "perfect" eater, and i don't ever plan to be) and i have been able to get a lot done at work.  POW.

today: insanity max plyo hybrid & papagayo!

my workout tonight was awesome - i mixed moves i have never done together!
insanity max plyo as the base but i switched up the moves for a very sweaty quick workout.

a few of us decided to head to papagayo for lunch, i had fish tacos.  very tasty!

the number 1 reason i love papagayo - the GUACAMOLE.  i want more!

bob's red mill high protein/high fiber blueberry chia seed pancakes!

after my 20 minute workout this morning i made blueberry chia seed pancakes.
1/3 cup carbquik, 1 scoop vanilla protein pancake, 1 tble bob's coconut flour, 1/2 teaspoon bob's zantham gum, 1/2 teaspoon bob's guar gum, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 2/3 cup egg whites, 1/3 cup almond milk (or water).

after i mixed the batter i added blueberries & bob's chia seeds

mix batter in a bowl, add any special add ons (i added bob's chia seeds & blueberries), cook in a pan.

jack black body rehav scrub & soak to the RESCUE!  i tried it in the shower tonight after my insanity session and BOY is it STRONG!  the scent is amazing and i could feel it working.  check out the products here.

my workout this morning was tough - my legs felt very very tired but i pulled through!

i was worried my legs would be exhausted tonight but surprisingly they were much better - my workout tonight (above) kicked butt!
